Microsemi RF Integrated Solutions designs and manufactures transceivers for the commercial, military and security markets from C Band thru W Band. Transceiver bandwidths and complexity levels vary from single frequency waveguide transceivers for door opener systems thru multi-channel multi-octave transceivers for electronic warfare systems. Transceivers often include either Gunn diode, YIG, discrete or MMIC based VCOs, depending upon system bandwidth and phase noise requirements, as internal local oscillators.
Transmitter and receiver functions are packaged on a multi-layer printed circuit board which allow for high packaging densities and low loss microwave interconnects with wire-bonded chip on board components as well as low-cost surface mount power supply and logic components. Isolation of the transmitter and receiver functions is achieved thru blind-via slot technology and implementation of conductive lids. Hermetic and non-hermetic designs are available. Thermal modeling is utilized to ensure adequate heat sinking of the transmitter output stages. Microsemi offers both catalog and custom transceivers but will also undertake collaborative design and build to print transceivers.
